Dr. Brian May is really leaning into the nostalgia for the Back to the Light rerelease, isn’t he? 🥺😍

I thought he retired the clogs because they don’t exactly provide the stability or arch support an active septuagenarian would require. But here we are.

Why is it that whenever Brian and Roger do Queen related stuff people complain that they’re being disrespectful to Freddie, and complain that they clearly don’t care about HIS legacy (like Queen isn’t just as much THIER legacy too) etc…

and yet when either of them do their own stuff that isn’t Queen, it suddenly IS all about Freddie. Like on Brian’s solo stuff on youtube there’ll be comments about how much better it would be if Freddie was singing it, or complaining if they don’t mention him in every interview that, again, they aren’t respecting him.

THIS. People hate so hard on Brian and Roger, but I feel like Brian receives even more hate, like they’re wrong to do stuff without Freddie.

They are always 100% clear that they’re not replacing Freddie; they’re keeping Freddie’s memory alive.

Because of social media and tours and Queen + Adam Lambert and Bohemian Rhapsody, younger generations are able to discover Queen. And the higher demand/popularity means more chances for rereleases and merch and stuff. It’s a win for younger people and the older fans. Would you rather have Queen fade into obscurity?

On a similar but different note, I’m sick to death of people bitching about Brian May mentoring/promoting King’s Daughters and Kerry Ellis on his Instagram. Guess what? It’s his Instagram. He can post whatever the fuck he wants. And the fact that he’s 73 years old and has a social media presence, much less an active one, is pretty damn special. He doesn’t have to put anything on social media, and yet he does.

I literally read a comment that “Brian hasn’t made a good post in like 8 weeks.” Okay, come on. He has far more important things to do than brainstorm social media content that gen Zers consider “quality.” Not every post is going to be a meme or a thirst trap or both.

So… you don’t want Queen stuff because you think that’s disrespectful to Freddie (even though Freddie continued to record stuff that he knew would be released posthumously). But then when Brian May uses his experience and clout to mentor other artists, you get upset because it’s not what you want to see.

I can’t even.
